                               1800's Stoneware Distressed Crock

                              Value: $125.00

This piece is very interesting as it is clearly from the 1800s, it has no signature, or markings, the inside is glazed original coca-cola brown. It has an underglaze of antique green, (you know the shade), the one you can no longer find or mix, no matter how hard you try.
The outer glaze is the original oat. Here is the interesting part; the green only shows through chipped areas and well-worn areas, which leads me to believe; this is very old with many chips.

Instead of green for an underglaze, there is no underglaze, instead, someone has over time, filled in the chips and worn areas with green stain or paint. Without the green, the chips would reveal a white chalk look instead of green as you can see in the photos on the mouth of the jar...that chip, in particular, must have happened at a more recent time, long after the green owner had it in his or her possession.
They did a very good job filling the chips with green and also revealing the fragility and age of this amazing pot. Measures 8" tall x 20" round.

At any rate, it is a lovely unique piece and a nice addition to any collection and would likely sell very fast at $125.00, even today.
